Why Dr. Shylesh Shetty left a successful consulting career to build one of India's first microscope-centred endodontic practices — and what that decision means for every patient who walks through the door.
Dr. Shylesh Shetty is amongst the pioneers of microscope-centred endodontics in India. After completing his BDS in 1999 and his MDS in Endodontics in 2004, he held faculty positions at Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and worked as a consultant endodontist across many of central and east Bangalore's leading dental practices.
It was during those years as a consultant that a conviction took hold: the highest standard of endodontic care simply could not be delivered within a general dentistry setup. The equipment, the time needed, the ergonomics, the assistant training — none of it was built for the precision and quality that root canal treatment truly demands. In 2009, Dr. Shetty founded The Root Canal Centre — a dedicated specialist endodontic practice built around a microscope-centred workflow.

In 2016, driven by that conviction, Dr. Shetty founded Excellence Dental — assembling a team of like-minded specialists who shared his commitment to craft, precision, and patient-first care.
